Would You Fail Our Test
We performed a little test this week - and the results might apply to you, so read on!
We have had some leaflets and free magazines delivered to our homes, and looking through those we noticed that most of the businesses that advertise there have the Facebook logo - 'Find us on Facebook'. So we did.
We had a look at the Facebook pages for those businesses, and in 90% of cases those Facebook pages were out of date, not branded correctly, had no reviews, no recent pictures or posts ... which tells your postential audience what?
We'll tell you!
It says that you are giving conflicting impressions of your business.
There's no point having a lovely shiny advert in a magazine if you are signposting people to a dead-in-the-water social media page.
It says that you aren't active currently.
It says that you're not really bothered about the appearance of your business, so why would your customers think that you'll be bothered about them?
And it says all of this to potential customers in about 2-3 seconds -scary right!
Think about it for a quick minute ...
Do people contact you after seeing just one reference (like your magazine ad?)
Not usually.
They will check out a website for more info.
They might Google you.
They might check out your Facebook page. Or all 3!
What they find WILL have a direct affect on whether or not they choose your quote, service or product.
They are seeing if you are credible (recent updates will help with this)
They are seeing if you are trustworthy (reviews will help with this)
They are looking for more examples of what you do (website galleries, Facebook posts and Google updates will help with this)
If you aren't updating all of these areas, I would think about doing that BEFORE you spend money on advertising, otherwise you are throwing money away. Making sure these updates are in place will make the advertising you do spend noney on much more likely to work for you!
