The Diary Of A Theatre Mum

Running a business from home is perfect when you have a young performer with dreams of being a West End Star! When I’m not working I’m a theatre mum, and I know there are a lot of us out there - so I’m sharing my experiences, hacks, help and hints with you all!

Should I Buy Flowers For A Performer .. ?

Having been through this process a number of times, I can only say that for our theatre company, yes shows gifts are very much ‘still a thing’!

It used to be that flowers were bought and given after a show had finished - NOT before as this is seen as tempting fate or bad luck!
When you are thinking about your child being in a performance, flowers aren’t always the best choice.
Now that my daughter is 11, she actually likes to receive flowers after her show but she also likes other little tokens too. Although for the last few years it has been other little gifts like sweets, a toy - which she’s now too old for really. A show gift needs to be nothing too costly (or we’d be bankrupt with the amount of shows she’s in!)

The show themed goods in the Design Theatric’s shop are perfect for show gifts!
Whether it’s for your performers after their own show, or you might have bought tickets for a touring musical, or been lucky enough to go and watch one on the West End or Broadway - show themed merchandise is always a good idea!

Delts Nu Legally Blonde Phone Case from Design Theatrics

A show themed phone case could be the perfect show gift!

A phone case like this one, a themed mug, or even clothing like this SIX inspired sweatshirt would all make great gifts!

I hope that helps you in your quest for the perfect show gift! And if all else fails - buy the flowers!
