Working With A Designer

No-one knows your business like you do.
The hours of worry and sleepless nights, the passion and belief you have in it.
Your vision for the future.

When you need to work with a designer; either for promotional material, a website, a flyer, a logo, a business card .. whatever you need a designer for, they need to be able to see your vision too.

Yes, a designer knows their business, like you know yours, but the two have to be able to work in harmony.
A good designer will do exactly what you want.
A great designer will listen to what you want and take it the next level.
A bad designer will do exactly what they want.
See the difference!

Never feel afraid of being too particular in your requests, or too much of a perfectionist.
This is your brand, and it needs to be 100% authentic and and right.

Make sure you know all of the costs and limitations upfront; many designers will only give you limited revisions of a piece of work before they charge you extra, and some may have additional costs for things you think should be included, so ensure everything is clear BEFORE you start!

If you are working to a deadline, make sure that your designer knows that and can carry out the work in time.

Try to give as much detail as possible - your designer is not a miracle worker or a mind reader - and whilst it may be crystal clear in your mind, you need to be able to clearly communicate what you are trying to achieve.

Finally, please don't assume that because someone charges more that their work is more professional, sadly this isn’t always the case, and if you can work with someone who has been recommended, that is the best way to go!
